Puppy Training: Exercising Your Puppy
Puppy Training includes daily exercise, whether it’s going for a walk, running around the backyard after squirrels, or playing catch with Mom or Dad. Puppies who don’t get enough exercise have poor muscle tone and may gain too much weight. But aside from the physical effects of too little exercise, inactive dogs can develop emotional problems, including depression, and pick up behavioral oddities.
If your puppy doesn't get enough exercise he'll get bored, and is more likely to tip over trash cans and chew on things he shouldn’t, just to get some attention and excitement in his life. Dogs love to play and run. Take your puppy out for a walk every day, or play catch in the backyard. Buy some fun toys and spend a few minutes each day exercising yourself and your best friend.
You’ll both feel better, and your puppy will love having more time with you. Dogs tend to get bored easily, and love to play. They want nothing more than for you to play with them—twenty-four hours a day, if you’ll do it. When you do play with them, it’s fun to watch how excited they get.
Now go include lots of exercise in your puppy training.
