Potty training a puppy does take a general level of common sense. You need to first work out when the puppy will most likely need the toilet. It is by taking the time to get to know your puppy that will really help you to understand their toilet needs. Generally one of the main mistakes which people do make is that they do not spend enough time with the puppy.

The worst thing you could ever do is bring a puppy home and simply leave it to its own devices. Yes, it might be cute and the children may love it, but it is not a toy and it does have basic needs. So you need to spend the time getting to know your puppy and taking more of an interest in what the puppy is doing.
 
 You can usually get a good idea of when the puppy wants the toilet, although there will still be some accidents, especially in the beginning. It simply takes persistence to show the puppy what is expected of them.
